Exclusive to ADVENTURES IN SCUBA…the PADI ‘MERMAID’ distinctive specialty!

Learn all about the history of Mermaids and why we see so few of them in existence today.  Man’s impact on the environment – including pollution and over-fishing – are only a couple of reasons why you don’t see many mermaids around anymore.  By helping us ensure that their environment is protected and making sure we are all aware of their needs we can increase their numbers.  JOIN the Mermaid Resurgence today!

During the first session there is a little bit of knowledge to be shared and then we hit the pool and learn how to become ‘Mermaids’. We do supply you with a ‘mono fin’ to use but we do not wear tails until everyone is comfortable in the water moving like a ‘Mermaid’.

The second session in the course is the start of your transformation into an actual ‘Mermaid’. We do a photo shoot, both on the surface and underwater, and you will be given a copy of the images that you appear in. You can come with you hair and make-up done or come early and do them at Adventures. Underwater, make-up washes out and off so it is always better to have a little extra on. Once the photos are completed we swim and play and practice what we have learned.

After you are a certified Mermaid you are invited back to join any scheduled ‘Mermaid’ class for only $10.00.

Unfortunately, we do not supply the actual Mermaid tail but we do sell them, some ‘Mermaids’ make their own and others simply make other arrangements. If you do choose to make your tail be mindful that sequins and sparkles will be destroyed in the pool and glue usually becomes unstuck so please try and avoid these materials.

A PADI certification card will be issued upon completion of the course BUT…everyone is welcome to participate as there is no actual scuba diving involved!
